Just like University of Santo Tomas, National University has come under investigation by the Joint Administrative Order group for sports for alleged quarantine violations.
NU management has said that the school allowed 42 of its stranded student-athletes to stay inside the campus because they had no place to go to.
In a YouTube post by Bulldogs setter Benok Ancheta, he showed how the 42 student-athletes from various NU teams trained.
“Sinamahan ko ‘yung mga teammates ko na nakauwi bago mag-lockdown. Samahan niyo ko sa training,” said Ancheta, who was with Ajhay Asaad Abdul in the video posted last August 4.
“Madami tayong makakasama dito. ‘Yung women’s basketball, ‘yung girls’ volleyball, ‘yung pep squad. Bawal kasi sa gym ng school kaya dito muna tayo.”
With the school’s gym locked, at least 15 Nationalians trained in the parking lot of the school. Some of the featured players in the post were women’s basketball’s Rhena Itesi, girls’ volleyball’s Shaira Jardio and Camilla Lamina, women’s volleyball’s Jennifer Nierva, and boys’ volleyball’s Genard Guerrero.
Manila was under general community quarantine from June 1 to August 5.
In another video, Ancheta posted a video of their testing protocols.
