Instead of crying over spilled milk, ECHO team captain Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales said that the team is looking to learn and move past its loss against Bren Esports on Saturday night.
“For me, kukunin namin sa talo ngayon yung mga maaadapt namin for the future hanggang matapos yung regular season at playoffs,” Bennyqt told reporters after ECHO’s deflating 0-2 loss at the hands of the lowly Bren Esports.
Expected to dominate the series, ECHO looked lethargic against the former world champions, committing crucial mistakes after crucial mistakes which resulted in the loss.
Indeed, it was far from the ECHO super squad that took the MPL Philippines Season Nine by storm ever since the opening week.
And for Bennyqt, one main factor about this is that the team just felt disconnected at the moment.
“For me yung performance namin against Bren hindi siya katulad nung dati e,” said the former Execration star.
“Parang disconnected din, medyo disconnected kami so ayun parang dun nag lead na nalulugi kami sa early stage pa lang ng game and hanggang sa kahit sa mga calls sa mid game to late game,” he added.
Despite the loss, though, the 20-year-old gold laner shared that the team was very positive right after the match.
Bennyqt also said that the loss just proved that the team, no matter how dominant its past showings are, still have a lot of things to work on.
“After naman namin matalo ng 0-2, positive pa rin namin siya kinuha although talo kami kasi parang ginising kami na ‘wag kaming maging kampante pa and marami pa kaming kailangan linisin,” said Bennyqt.
With less than 24 hours to prepare for its next match against Omega Esports, the pride of Cavite reiterated the need for a hard reset if they want to end the week on a high note.
“Tapos yung iba, reset na kami focus na sa Omega, ibang kalaban, ibang playstyle na ulit papakita namin.”
