Duking in out it what looked like a friendship game, the seasoned DLS-CSB Blazers overwhelmed the DLSU-Dasmariñas Patriots 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 in the inaugural Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference presented by PLDT Home Ultera at the FilOil Flying-V Arena.
The Blazers barely broke a sweat and were even able to extend their rotation to the seldom-used spikers at the end of their bench. SEA Games standout and member of the recently crowned Spikers’ Turf Open Conference champions, PLDT Home Ultera Ultra Fast Hitter, John Vic De Guzman played only a set and a half for the NCAA finalists. De Guzman scored seven points while his sidekick Jethro Orian topped the Benile scoring order with 10 points.
CSB head coach, Arnold Laniog expressed satisfaction with the way his players’ unwavering intensity in the match. “I’m very happy with the way we finished out the game. Kahit malaki ‘yung mga lamang namin nung laban, di na namin pinahabol ‘yung kalaban.”
Patriots’ open hitter, Eddimar Kasim fired-off 10 points while Adam Aidam and Aldin Bin each pitched in eight points.
Benilde will face the UP Fighting Maroons, who won their opening match yesterday against the Arellano Chiefs, on Monday, July 20. The Patriots will look to earn their first win at the expense of the defending UAAP champions, Ateneo Blue Eagles, also on July 20.
