Beau Belga zipped and zapped through a tough course to retain his title as the most skilled big man in the league by winning the Obstacle Challenge in the 2019 PBA All-Star Weekend, Friday at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters slotman got the title for the second straight year after clocking in 21.0 seconds in the final round, besting Columbian Dyip’s Russel Escoto (21.3) and TNT KaTropa’s Yousef Taha (26.3).
This, even if he nearly got dethroned in the second round by Meralco Bolts’ Brian Faundo when he slipped badly on the floor while making a chest pass.
“Natapakan ko yung marker. Akala ko talo na ‘ko pero nakita ko si Brian ‘di nagawa yung pasa,” said the 6-foot-6 Belga. “Ano lang siguro, experience. Matagal na ako sa liga. Hindi porke’t mataba ka, mabagal ka.”
Belga will be taking home PHP 30,000.
