PBA teams can begin training as early as two weeks after Batangas City has agreed to host a number of clubs.
Batangas City Mayor Beverley Dimacuha and Congressman Marino approved the proposal of the league, Saturday evening.
“Okay na ang LGU (local government unit). JAO (Joint Administrative Order from the Department of Health, Games and Amusements Board, and Philippine Sports Commission) na lang, and maybe our teams can start practices middle of May,” said league commissioner Willie Marcial.
The province of Batangas is under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until May 31 which means that only batch sessions are allowed.
Up next for the PBA is to submit their health protocols to GAB. Marcial had said that GAB Chairman Baham Mitra is supporting this endeavor.
Set to host the practice sessions are the Batangas City Coliseum and Batangas State University Gym. Lyceum-Batangas Gym might be added as well. Batangas City Coliseum has played host to a number of PBA, PVL, and MPBL games.
Six to seven teams have expressed interest to train in Batangas while another two squads are most likely headed to Laoag.
A home-venue-home set-up will be implemented for those wishing to train in Batangas.
Teams have been only training via online means since April 1.
