NCAA products stood out in different tests of the PBA Season 48 Draft Combine opener Tuesday at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.
Former San Sebastian stalwart Rhinwill Yambing flexed his hops as he topped the standing vertical jump test with 34.5 inches.
Yambing, who stands at 6-foot-3, was the Stags’ breakout star in the previous NCAA season, where he sank 11 treys to beat JRU in the eliminations.
Fellow Stag Kenneth Villapando, for his part, was the fastest among the 111 hopefuls in attendance as he clocked in 2.81 seconds in the 3/4 court sprint.
Perpetual’s Kim Aurin, St. Benilde’s JC Cullar, Enoch Valdez of Lyceum, and ex-UP big man JBoy Gob all had a 100-percent accuracy in the reaction test.
Meanwhile, Alwin Margallo of NBL-Pilipinas and Fil-Am Larry Arpia Jr. aced separate tests to make their own mark in Day 1 of the Combine.
Margallo owned the lane agility course as he finished it in only 11.53 seconds. Arpia Jr., on the other hand, leapt 43 inches in the max vertical test.
Day 2 of the Combine is on Wednesday in the same venue.
