Barangay Ginebra landed five-time UAAP champion Nico Salva in a trade with the Barako Bull Energy Tuesday.
In the deal, Ginebra lands the forward along with a 2016 first rounder from the Energy.
Barako Bull in return receives Ginebra’s second-string point guards Jens Knuttel, Emman Monfort, and Josh Urbiztondo, whom all saw limited minutes with the Kings in the 2014-15 season.
Salva played sparingly with Barako Bull, buried in a rotation which includes JC Intal, Jake Pascual, and Carlo Lastimosa although he has been training with Ginebra earlier this week.
The move creates a logjam at Barako’s point guard rotation, which already includes Paolo Hubalde, Chico Lanete, Paul Sorongon, Brian Heruela, and RR Garcia.
Ginebra meanwhile may get a crack at a quality player in the 2016 draft. Among the projected 2016 rookie applicants are Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Ray Parks Jr., Mike Tolomia, and Jio Jalalon, among others.
