PASSI CITY – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is going back to familiar territory for the 2024 All-Star.
Commissioner Willie Marcial revealed that the league will head to Bacolod for next year’s midseason extravaganza following the successful staging of the 2023 festivities here.
Marcial met with city mayor Albee Benitez on Saturday regarding the event to be held in a newly-constructed venue.
It will be the first time in 16 years that the PBA will hold the All-Star Weekend in the City of Smiles.
The 2008 ASW was held in Bacolod, which saw South beat North, 163-158, in the lone All-Star Game in history that went into overtime after ending the regulation locked at 149-all.
Proud is Marcial and Co. of this year’s All-Star, where the City of Passi Arena got filled and witnessed Team Japeth survive Team Scottie, 140-136, in a tight finish in Sunday night’s event capper.
Stands were also filled during the Friday events, which saw the Greats beat the Stalwarts, 158-138, in a fitting wrap-up of that night that saw new Skills Challenge champions emerge.
TNT big man Dave Marcelo dethroned Beau Belga for the Obstacle Challenge kingship. Magnolia star Paul Lee won the 3-Point Shootout, as David Murrell of Converge became slam dunk champ.
