Kai Sotto did not have the finale he had wanted in the 2023 NBA Summer League.
The 7-foot-3 Filipino big man did not play in the second half of Orlando’s 94-77 loss to Boston on Sunday morning (Manila time) at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sotto had already played eight minutes in the first half before his back tightened up forcing him out of the second half.
During his time on the court, Sotto went scoreless with two rebounds, an assist, and two turnovers.
This was a far cry from his six-point, three-block outing last Friday against Portland.
Now, this puts into question when Sotto will arrive in the country and join Gilas Pilipinas in their final preparation for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
According to Sotto, he will go into therapy and rehabilitation first before deciding on whether he will suit up for the Philippines in the global meet this August.
Vincent Bodon led Boston with 13 points while Jordan Walsh and Reginald Kissoonlal chipped in 12 points apiece.
Robert Baker had a double-double for Orlando with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Magic lost all five of their games in the Summer League.
