B.League: Utsunomiya spoils Dwight Ramos’ Toyama return

Dwight Ramos and Toyama were bamboozled by Utsunomiya on Saturday, suffering a 79-99 defeat in the 2021-22 B.League season, Saturday at Toyama City Gymnasium.

In his first game back since March 27, Ramos was limited to just three points on 1-of-6 shooting with five assists, three rebounds, and a steal.

Figuring in a close game at the half, the Grouses struggled to contain Brex in the third quarter, allowing 30 points to fall behind 73-53 entering the final 10 minutes of the game.

Josh Scott almost single-handedly outscored the entire Grouses team all by his lonesome, scoring 11 of his 12 points during the stanza, going 3-of-3 from the field and 5-of-5 from the foul stripe.

Meanwhile, Toyama only shot 5-of-17 during that span while putting up just 12 points.

Brex never surrendered their double-digit lead as it cruised to a 33-14 record and stay ahead in the wildcard race.

Isaac Fotu led the way for Utsunomiya with 25 points and 10 rebounds while Hironori Watanabe added 11 points on three treys. Both Makoto Hiejima and Shuhei Kitagawa got 10 points apiece as well.

Toyama, meanwhile, saw its four-game winning streak snap to fall to 20-30 in the standings.

Brice Johnson paced Toyama with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Keijuro Matsui and Julian Mavunga chipped in 12 points each.

The two teams face off again tomorrow.
