B.League: Thirdy, San-En absorb third straight loss


Thirdy Ravena and San-En were dealt their third straight loss by Hiroshima, falling 81-93 in the 2022-23 B.League season, Friday at Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall.

The NeoPhoenix fell to 12-15, 15th in the league while the Dragonflies went up to 22-5.

Ravena tallied nine assists, eight points, and five rebounds but it was not enough to lift San-En to victory.

Kerry Blackshear and Nick Mayo did most of the damage for Hiroshima, finishing with 21 and 20 points respectively with Blackshear also grabbing 15 boards.

Naoto Tsuji nailed four treys for 17 points while Dwayne Evans added 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

Kyle O’Quinn led the way for San-En with 26 points and 13 boards while Kazuki Hosokawa got 16 points.

Over at White Ring, Matthew Aquino and Shinshu notched their fourth straight win, beating Niigata, 73-62.

Aquino went scoreless in three minutes.

Josh Hawkinson and Ko Kumagai got 20 points apiece with the former also hauling down 17 rebounds, helping the Brave Warriors go up to 14-13 — 11th in the league.

The Albirex, who fell to 3-24, were led by Keve Aluma, who got 17 points. Reon Shibuta chipped in 14 markers.

In B3, Jay Washington and Yokohama went up to 16-8 after beating Shonan, 89-69.

Washington played 19 minutes for eight points and three rebounds.
