B.League: Okada lifts Shinshu to third straight win as Matt Aquino watches on

Shinshu has yet to lose since Matthew Aquino joined its bench.

The Brave Warriors relied on the clutch heroics of Yuta Okada to lift them to a thrilling 87-84 win over Hokkaido in the 2021-22 B.League season, Wednesday at the Kotobuki Arena Chikuma.

With the game knotted at 84-all, Okada showed no fear, shooting an off-the-dribble trey that was eventually the winner.

Though Okada and Anthony McHenry could not extend the lead, Ryoma Hashimoto missed on his triple attempt while Wayne Marshall secured the rebound.

The Brave Warriors went up to 5-4 while extending their winning streak to three.

Okada fired 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting in the contest, along with three assists, two steals, and two rebounds.

Both McHenry and Josh Hawkinson had 15 points apiece with the former also having nine rebounds, four steals, and two blocks.

Ko Kumagai had 10 points while Marshall hauled 10 rebounds along with eight points.

Levanga dropped to 3-6.

Hokkaido was a two-man show with Shawn Long finishing with 27 points, six rebounds, and four assists while De’Mon Brooks adding 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Aquino and the Brave Warriors face Bambitious Nara on Saturday to open their Emperor’s Cup campaign.
