Barae Jrondi’s stint as head coach of the Philippine Azkals went off to a rough start as they lost 2-0 against Kuwait, Friday morning, at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City.
After a goalless first half, the Azkals conceded twice in the last 20 minutes of the match. Midfielder Bader Tareq opened the scoring for the home side with an impressive free kick in the 71st minute to beat goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.
Already a goal up, the Kuwaitis managed to get the insurance goal they needed just before the end of the match. Ali Khalaf put the ball at the back of the net in the 84th minute to make it a comprehensive defeat for the Filipinos.
Up next for the Azkals is a friendly match against Jordan. That will take place this Wednesday, 2:30 AM Manila time, in Doha, Qatar.
