Axel Doromal parts way with Arellano

Another player has left Arellano University.

Axel Doromal has been granted his release from Arellano as early as late May.

His last game with the Chiefs was back in May 24, a 68-82 defeat to Lyceum of the Philippines University.

He is the third player to leave the Legarda-based school after Cade Flores, Travis Mantua, and Neil Tolentino.

But unlike the departure of the first three, Doromal amicably parted ways with Arellano and head coach Chico Manabat.

“Naintindihan namin yung pag-alis ni Axel kasi sabi niya na kailangan niya ma-solve ang financial problem ng pamilya niya kaya siya maglalaro sa isa pro league,” said Chiefs head coach Chico Manabat.

“Masaya kami para sa kanya kung saan man siya mapupunta.”

Doromal, a product of Ateneo de Davao, started his collegiate career at Jose Rizal University before transferring to Arellano for NCAA Season 97 and 98.

He wound up with averages of a team-high 16.0 points to go along with 3.33 rebounds and 2.39 assists.

Arellano is currently 0-8 in the Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup and has one game left — a clash with Jose Rizal University on Friday.
