San Miguel head coach Leo Austria hopes Beermen center June Mar Fajardo will be able to return to action in their next game.
“I hope na next game makalaro na siya. Actually pinalalaro na siya kung kaya, but sabi ko saya kaniya I don’t want you to play but I want you to suit up to inspire the team,” Austria said of Fajardo’s status.
Fajardo did not play against the Alaska Aces on Wednesday night, although the Beermen cruised to a 116-96 victory.
“Slowly, maganda ang kaniyang recovery. Nagsa-subside na yung swelling. It is a minor injury but we don’t want to force (him),” Austria said, adding Fajardo’s knees went through some strengthening while recovering from injuries.
San Miguel will not play until March 27, when they battle the Star Hotshots.
Meanwhile, Ronald Tubid and Ryan Arana, who are both nursing injuries, shall be out for about two more weeks.
Arana said he was good to go after a week, but opted to rest for an extra week “to be sure”, while Arana said he will most likely be back when San Miguel takes on Barangay Ginebra on April 3.
