Ateneo Blue Eagles to receive second straight ECJ trophy

For the second straight year, the Ambassador Eduardo Conjuangco Jr. trophy will head to Katipunan.

On Monday, San Miguel Corporation’s chairman and La Salle coach Paolo Sauler will personally deliver the beautifully crafted 14-karat trophy worth an estimated PHP 2,700,000 to the Ateneo de Manila University.

The simple ceremony will be held at 9:00am.

The Blue Eagles secured their second straight UAAP Men’s Basketball crown last December 5 after completing a two-game sweep of the UP Fighting Maroons.

Last year, Cojuangco and SMC pledged to reward the UAAP Men’s Basketball Champions with this trophy for one UAAP cycle (8 years).

This memento represents all of the core values each school is fighting for.

The Blue Eagles are one championship away from securing the special ECJ Perpetual Trophy, a piece of hardware that is worth around PHP 5,800,000. It is a special reward for any team who can secure three straight championships.
