Arwind Santos slapped with 25k fine

The PBA Commissioner’s Office has fined San Miguel Beermen’s Arwind Santos PHP 25,000 for his comments detrimental to the league and a flagrant foul in their loss to Barangay Ginebra in Game Three of their 2018 Philippine Cup semifinals.

The 36-year-old, as per the decision made by the league Wednesday, will have to pay P20,000 due to his subtle jab on how Ginebra had the officiating on their side in Tuesday’s game which the Gin Kings won, 95-87.

“Parang may mga shadow yung mga players kanina eh. Parang yung lima nagiging walo,” the often-metaphorical Santos alluded.

“Kaya parang nahihirapan kami bantayan kasi lima lang ang kalaban, pero nagiging walo.”

The Commissioner’s Office has also added a PHP 5,000 fine to Santos, as the 12-year league veteran was whistled for a flagrant foul penalty one to Ginebra tower Japeth Aguilar late in the third quarter of Game Three.

Santos and San Miguel are still ahead in the best-of-seven series, 2-1.
