Arwind Santos disputes ejection: ‘Nagulat ako bakit F2 yun’

As expected, things grew heated between the San Miguel Beermen and the Barangay Ginebra Kings on Sunday evening.

The Beermen were giving the Gin Kings a taste of their own medicine, holding an imposing 24-point lead with 5:24 left.

As San Miguel went down to their defensive formation, Scottie Thompson ran in the direction of Arwind Santos. The 6-foot-4 Santos nudged Thompson, who fell to the floor, clutching his chest.

After a quick review, Santos was slapped with a flagrant two that resulted in his ejection. As he walked back to the dugout, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the call.

“Nagulat ako bakit F2 ‘yun? Ang rules above the shoulders, F2 lang tsaka ‘pag closed fist,” lamented the 12-year pro, who headed to the dugout doing his Spiderman gesture. “Normal na sa amin ‘yun sa tagal ko ng naglalaro – ‘yung aanuhin ka sa dibdib dahil magbibigay ng down screen.”

Santos finished the game with 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. And with San Miguel knotting the series, the former league Most Valuable Player is leaving this behind.

“Ewan ko pero okay lang’ yun. Ipapa-ubaya ko na sa mga coaches namin ‘yun.”
