Aquino a DNP as Shinshu routed by Chiba in B.League

Shinshu was overwhelmed by defending B.League champion Chiba, suffering a 74-94 rout , Saturday at Funabashi Arena.

After a close first quarter, the Jets zoomed to a 30-point second quarter while limiting the Brave Warriors to just 14 points to gain a 50-32 lead.

The trio of Josh Duncan, Sota Okura, and Takuma Sato absolutely torched Shinshu during the quarter, combining for 20 points and shooting a combined 9-of-9 from the field.

Though Shinshu was able to cut the lead into the third canto, John Mooney put the finishing touches in the final frame to seal Chiba’s ninth win in their last 11 games.

The Jets, who went up to an East-best 19-6, were led by Duncan’s 18 points while Mooney added 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Christopher Smith got 16 points while Gavin Edwards finished with 13 points.

Shinshu dropped their 10th loss in their last 11 games to fall to 10-15.

Reo Maeda paced Shinshu with 17 points, Josh Hawkinson got 15 points, while Ko Kumagai chipped in 14 points.
