Playing shorthanded in the 2024 Pinoyliga Cup, University of the Philippines has decided to call on reinforcement.
Andy Gemao suited up for the Fighting Maroons during their game against the Our Lady of Fatima University Phoenix on Sunday at Enderun Colleges Gym.
Gemao is fresh off leading Fil-Am Nation Select to the 2024 NBTC National Championship.
There, he averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 steals.
The athletic 17-year-old guard is currently in Grade 11 and has made it known that he will return to Veritas Prep this year, hoping to secure an athletic scholarship for college.
If things don’t pan out, the former Letran Squire will most likely commit to UP. There, he will reunite with former National University Nazareth School coaches Goldwin Monteverde and Tom Chua.
Gemao also joined UP during its camp in Serbia a year ago.
The 6-foot-1 winger will be eligible for UAAP Season 88.
The Fighting Maroons are currently 2-0 in the preseason league, defeating San Beda (88-46) and San Sebastian (92-69) to open their campaign.
