Andreas Cahilig signs two-year pact with Terrafirma

Andreas Cahilig isn’t going anywhere.

The bruising forward signed a fresh two-year extension with Terrafirma just a few days before the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup resumption.

He was accompanied by agent Charlie Dy of Virtual Playground in the contract signing graced by Dyip team manager Ronald Tubid.

This is indeed good news for the ball club, which lost core members Matt Ganuelas-Rosser and Roosevelt Adams to free agency.

Cahilig, 31, was actually the 24th overall pick by GlobalPort in 2017. But it was with Terrafirma where he flourished as a two-way player.

One of his best showings happened in the 2021 Philippine Cup, which saw him register 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 94-86 win over Blackwater.

It was their third straight win then — a stretch that made them the netizens’ darlings as they earned wins over San Miguel and Ginebra prior.

And indeed key in that streak was the Fil-Swiss cager, earning him praises from none other than Dyip head coach Johnedel Cardel.

“Kahit gwapo yan, nakikipagpalitan ng mukha yan,” he was quoted as saying.

Cahilig is averaging 7.5 points on 43.5-percent shooting, 3.5 rebounds, and 1,3 assists in the Governors’ Cup, which resumes on February 11.
