Gilas Pilipinas will finally be complete in their preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
The final piece to the Gilas puzzle Andray Blatche finally arrived in the country, Saturday afternoon.
Welcoming the 6-foot-11 naturalized Filipino was Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao, team manager Gabby Cui, and Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas’ special assistant to the president Ryan Gregorio.
Blatche arrived at around 11:00 am.
The CBA player was supposed to arrive earlier but he had a child custody hearing back in the States that caused the slight delay.
The former NBA pro was an integral part in the Philippines’ qualification to the global meet, averaging 16.0 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in eight Qualifier games.
The 32-year-old stretch big man will join Gilas’ practice on Monday, July 15.
Gilas is figured in Pool D together with Serbia, Italy, and Angola in the World Cup that begins on August 31.
