Alyssa Valdez to serve as PWNVT captain for SEAG


Alyssa Valdez will lead the Philippine women’s indoor volleyball team to Cambodia for the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) announced the rosters for both the men’s and women’s teams on Sunday, with Valdez at the forefront of a formidable lineup.

PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara commended the teams’ rosters, calling them perhaps the most formidable to date.

He emphasized that the athletes felt dedicated and determined to represent their country. Moreover, the coaching staff had placed a premium on chemistry to ensure that the players would blend well on the court.

Valdez will be joined on the women’s team by her Creamline teammates Jia De Guzman, Kyla Atienza, Celine Domingo, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, and Michele Gumabao.

The team, coached by Brazilian Jorge Edson Souza De Brito, also includes Gel Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso from Cignal, Kath Arado and Dell Palomata from PLDT, Cherry Nunag and Kat Tolentino from Choco Mucho, and Mylene Paat from Chery Tiggo.

The women’s team coaching staff comprises assistant coaches Sherwin Meneses and Cherry Rose Macatangay, trainer Raffy Mosuela, strength and conditioning coach Grace Gomez, and team manager Ma. Fe Moran.

Volleyball competitions for the SEA Games will start on May 1 at the Morodok Techo Elephant Hall in Cambodia, two days before the opening ceremony.
