Alinsunurin relishes debut win: ‘Kinikilabutan pa rin ako’

Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin felt ecstatic after notching his first win in the Premier Volleyball League.

The Flying Titans dazzled in their debut, scoring a dominant 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 sweep over Akari for a winning debut in the All-Filipino Conference at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on Saturday night.

“Sobrang saya sa naging panalo namin. Sobrang thankful din ako sa players ko and coaching staff na nagtulong tulong para makuha namin yung game na yun,” said Alinsunurin after the game.

“Sobrang saya talaga, hanggang ngayon kinikilabutan pa rin ako kasi first time kong nanalo sa PVL kaya sobrang ramdam na ramdam ko pa yung pagkapanalo namin,” he added.

In their first game of the 2023 season, Choco Mucho produced four double-digit scorers led by Maddie Madayag, who fired 11 points on nine attacks, a block, and an ace, in her start after almost two years.

Kat Tolentino and Bea De Leon provided 11 points each while Des Cheng had 10 points.PVL-AFC-2023-Akari-vs.-Choco-Mucho-8039 Alinsunurin relishes debut win: 'Kinikilabutan pa rin ako' News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

But despite the flawless outing from his team, Alinsunurin said that there’s still a lot of room for improvement for the Rebisco-backed squad.

“Siguro kung percent na sa mga 60 to 70 percent pero syempre kailangan pa naming i-polish talaga kung ano pa yung gusto naming mangyari sa loob ng court,” said Alinsunurin.

“Although nakikita ko naman na yung gusto naming mangyari unti-unti nang nakukuha na nila,” he added.

The NU men’s volleyball head coach also expressed his utmost gratitude to the Choco Mucho community for giving him a warm welcome.

“Mas ginaganahan ako kasi alam ko na yung team ng Choco Mucho maraming fans talaga. Nakikita ko yung ginagawa ng team mas lalong nabu-boost kung ano ‘man yung gusto naming mangyari sa loob ng court.”
