The 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup has been good for San Miguel Beermen’s gunslinging point guard Alex Cabagnot, most especially in terms of individual achievements.
First, the 35-year-old cracked the Top 10 lists of the league’s all-time assists leaders last May 31. He overtook PBA legend Franciz Arnaiz, who had 2,938 assists in his 15-year career.
In their final elimination game last July 7 against the Magnolia Hotshots, Cabagnot only shot one triple of the seven he took, but it was enough for him to join the 800 Triples Made Club.
And on Monday night, in their come-from-behind 105-94 victory over the Alaska Aces in Game Two of their best-of-three semifinal clash, Cabagnot added yet another feather to his cap.
As per the league’s stats head Fidel Mangonon, the 13-year league veteran finished with four steals – on top of 14 points and eight assists – to move to number 11 in the all-time steals list.
Cabagnot surpassed 1980 rookie Willie Generalao in the list.
“To achieve such a feat, I can’t but give all the praises to the Lord all mighty! God is good!” read a part of the seven-time champion’s Twitter post, also on Monday night.
Now, all eyes are on Cabagnot for which record will he make next.
