Alcantara-Patrombon defeats Huey-Gonzales in all-Filipino SEAG tennis finals

Mindanaoans Francis Alcantara and Jeson Patrombon overcame top-seed and fellow Filipinos Treat Huey and Ruben Gonzales, 7-6, 7-5, to emerge with gold in the 30th Southeast Asian Games tennis men’s doubles event, Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

The first set stayed on serve and went to the tiebreak.

Alcantara and Patrombon then got their stride in the extension. They finally won the deciding game to go up with the 1-0 set advantage.

The following frame was still another tight contest, with Huey and Gonzales going up to 4-3.

The younger Filipino pair then came through and eventually took the second set at 7-5, the match, and the gold.
