AJ Lim draws Stefanos Tsitsipas in Davis Cup

The top male netters of the Philippines take on no less than world number 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas and the rest of the Greece squad as Davis Cup 2020 World Group II Playoffs roll on Friday at the Philippine Columbian Association.

Southeast Asian Games 2019 bronze medalist AJ Lim will have the unenviable task to take on the world-ranked Greek in the first singles rubber at 11 a.m.

“It will be a great experience,” said Lim who has faced and beaten the Greek star in the 2016 Orange Bowl quarterfinals in doubles. “I’m just excited to play against him. That’s it.”

“It’s really nice to face him in the Davis Cup, having faced him before at the juniors level. It’s going to be a good game for sure,” Tsitsipas added.

The second match sees SEA Games two-medal winner Jeson Patrombon take on the younger Tsitsipas, Petros, to close out the first day.

Veterans Francis Alcantara and Ruben Gonzales open the second day with the doubles match against Markos Kalovelonis and Petros Tsitsipas.

Reverse singles will be played if needed, pitting Patrombon and Lim against Stefanos and Petros Tsitsipas, respectively.

Jed Olivarez completes the cast for the Philippines, while Michail Pervolarakis rounds up the European side.
