Sta. Lucia has loaded up for the upcoming volleyball season.
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas has signed with the Lady Realtors, the team announced on Friday.
Maizo-Pontillas, a two-time V-League Season MVP and 2017 PSL All-Filipino Conference MVP, was one of the displaced players coming off the disbandment of Petron due to the on-going pandemic.
Seeing the team’s need to load up, Sta. Lucia chairman Vicente Santos pulled the trigger on the signing.
“The instruction from Sta. Lucia’s team owner was clear — Get someone who can score at will.
“And who fits that description to a T? None other than one of Philippine volleyball’s queens, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas,” read the team’s statement.
The University of Santo Tomas legend has been with Petron since 2016, winning three championships there.
A five-time PSL Best Opposite Spiker, she will definitely bring a huge boost to Sta. Lucia that already has Mika Reyes and MJ Phillips.
“Her leadership, skills, and character will be a boost to our 2021 campaigns.”
Sta. Lucia is just one of three clubs still in the PSL.
