Air Force picks up ex-PLDT stars for PNVFCL

Go for Gold-Air Force is going all out in its Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League campaign.

With star spiker Bryan Bagunas in Japan, the Aguilas picked up four big free agents.

Go for Gold-Air Force swooped in to sign PLDT stars John Vic De Guzman, Mark Alfafara, Lloyd Josafat, and Kim Dayandante to beef up its already stacked roster.

“Malaking bagay sa team namin si Mark [Alfafara] and Johnvic [De Guzman] ngayong Champions League dahil hindi available yung ibang players namin,” said Air Force coach Dante Alinsunurin, who is also the National Team head coach.

The quartet will be joining their National team teammates Kim Malabunga, Francis Saura, Jessie Lopez, and Ricky Marcos in the lineup.

Also reinforcing the roster is National University middle blocker Berhashidin Daymil.

Go for Gold-Air Force garnered back-to-back runner-up finishes in the last season of Spikers’ Turf. They lost to Cignal both times in the Reinforced and Open Conferences last 2019.

On the other hand, PLDT was knocked off by the same Air Force team during the quarterfinals of the Open Conference.

The Aguilas will open the men’s tourney on Monday at 10:30 AM against the VNS Manileño Spikers.
