After bidding San Beda farewell, Jarin leaves MVP Group

A new chapter is set to begin for coach Jamike Jarin’s career

After resigning from his post with the San Beda College Red Lions, Jamike Jarin has also bid farewell to Manny V. Pangilinan and his group according to officials from the company.

Aside from being chief mentor to the Red Lions, Jarin also served as assistant coach to Norman Black with the Meralco Bolts.

“Yes, he has already left,” an official from the group, who did not want to be named, said. “MVP has already accepted his resignation.”

With this move, he is set to work full-time for the National University Bulldogs as he has no other commitments. Moreover, he will report directly under NU Men’s Basketball Team manager Manny Sy of New Golden City Builders. He is set to replace Eric Altamirano.

“This will be a big risk on his part but we wish him luck,” the official added.

Prior to his two-year stint with San Beda in which he won an NCAA Championship, Jarin was a long-time assistant to Norman Black with the Ateneo Blue Eagles from 2005 to 2012.

In addition, he also steered the Ateneo Blue Eaglets to six championships (Season 66, 67, 69, 71, 72, 73). He also handled the MVP-backed Batang Gilas (RP Basketball Youth Team).

The San Beda Red Lions, Ateneo Blue Eagles, Meralco Bolts, TNT KaTropa, and Batang Gilas are all bankrolled by the MVP Group.
