AFF: Flanigan scores but Filipinas U18 falter to Malaysia to end run


The Philippine Under-18 Women’s National Football Team closed its 2022 AFF U18 Women’s Championship campaign with a 2-1 loss to Malaysia, Friday evening, at the Gelora Jakabaring Stadium in Indonesia.

Coach Let Dimzon’s young Filipinas fell to a two-goal deficit early in the match. Midfielder Najwa Irdina scored past goalkeeper Samantha Link in the 4th and 8th minutes to set her team on the way to victory.

Come the second half, Isabella Flanigan pulled one back in the 52nd minute but the young Filipinas failed to complete the comeback.

The result means that the young Filipinas fail to tally a point in Group B.

In contrast, the Malaysians finished in third place in the group with 3 points after ending their campaign on a high note.
