Arvin Alayon came off the bench to propel the Philippine Under-16 Men’s National Football Team towards a 2-1 win over Singapore in the 2022 AFF U-16 Youth Championship, Saturday afternoon, in Indonesia.
Alayon was brought off the sidelines by coach Christopher Pedimonte and the former delivered in a big way by scoring the winning goal in the 88th minute.
Alayon’s goal capped off a fine second-half performance for the Philippines.
Julio Yoldi broke the deadlock for the Filipinos in the 48th minute to score the team’s first goal in the competition.
Singapore’s Jonan Tan then equalized past goalie Cesar Castro, but Alayon’s heroics, in the end, gave the Filipinos a win to cap off their run in the tournament.
The result means that the Philippines finishes in third place in Group A with three points while Singapore fails to tally a point on the back of three defeats.
