Nina Mathelus scored all the goals as the Philippine Under-17 Women’s National Football Team romped Guam, 3-1, in the 2024 AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualification at the GFA National Training Center.
Mathelus scored in the 29th, 47th, and 76th minutes of the match to lead coach Alen Stajcic’s squad to their first win in Group G.
“I’m really excited. First international goals. Great way to start the career,” she said. “It was a really good game. We played very well. They’re a good team. They really put up a fight.
“Our team played really well. Great job to everyone. Great job to the coaches. Thank you because the last few weeks have been really hard, but they taught me a lot. Laban Filipinas!” she continued.
Lebanon and Guam, the other nations in Group G, will play on Monday.
The Philippines will next face Lebanon on Wednesday at 5:00 PM Manila time, in the same venue.
