UP’s Morales however would hold the fort for the defending champions, routing Karmela Rocero in three sets to level the field. A doubles victory from UP’s Magpantay and Ching over Thomasians Robles and Tempiatura, 3-2, would put the Lady Maroons ahead of the race. A thrilling five set victory from Celinber Montes over UP’s Maderal would force the fifth set. The morning’s victory however would go to UP, after a dominant three-set performance from Nishino over UST’s Lupeba sealed the victory for the Lady maroons and the chance at the two-peat.
