Adeogun challenged, brought best game against workhorse Guinto

San Beda Center, Ola Adeogun, still remembers the last time he played against San Sebastian big, Bradwyn Guinto, and claims he was challenged to bring out his best when the Red Lions scored a 92-81 win over the Golden Stags.

“Si Guinto kasi, kalaban ko yan sa D-League. Alam kong masipag talaga yang bata na yan. Grabe siya maglaro. He does not complain and just plays the game,” Adeogun shared.

“I remember the last time we played, talo namin sila pero grabe, na-outwork niya ako. I remember that and learned from that. So I came out physical. I gave him respect so I came out to play.”

However, the Nigerian center says it is only “one of the games,” and that his squad has long ways to go. “Mahaba pa ang season so we move on to the next ones,” he shared.

Adeogun added he focused on his own game, instead of allowing distractions get the better of him, even if the San Sebastian crowd got rowdy at times.

“I just keep calm and focus on my game, instead of complaining to the referees,” he said. “That’s why the game of basketball is fun. It is because of the fans. We are here because of them, to make them happy and support the alma mater. They are just doing their part. When they were shouting I just tried to make my free throws and smiled.”

Adeogun however, hopes he would make more of his foul shots the next time out. “Hopefully it does not happen the next time,” he said.
