Gilas Pilipinas welcomed Abu Tratter back to their fold as the Nationals’ preparations for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers’ first window continue, Friday evening at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
Tratter, along with Alaska teammate Vic Manuel, received an invite to the pool earlier this week following the withdrawal of Christian Standhardinger, Japeth Aguilar, and Mac Belo.
Manuel has yet to report to practice, though, his wife had given birth to a baby girl recently. Gilas team manager Gabby Cui has already clarified that he will attend soon.
Tratter was among the 18 players who took part in the session led by fellow PBA cagers Kiefer Ravena, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, CJ Perez, Poy Erram, Javee Mocon, and Justin Chua.
Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, twins Matt and Mike Nieto, Juan and Javi Gomez De Liaño, Dave Ildefonso, Dwight Ramos, Rey Suerte, and Jaydee Tungcab were also in attendance.
Marc Pingris and Kobe Paras continued to show support, with both attending and watching from the sidelines.
Gilas’ preparations remain the same even if its schedule lightened following the postponement of its game versus Thailand set on February 20 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Still, the Filipino dribblers will have a tough challenge ahead as their clash versus another Southeast Asian contender in Indonesia on the road will push through on the 23rd.
