Abra-Solid North’s 48-game MPBL streak on the line as San Juan brings celebrated core

Defending champion Abra Solid North puts its record-winning streak on the line against a dangerous San Juan squad at 8 p.m. on Saturday in the MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 2026 Season at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Unbeaten for over a year, the Abra Weavers have strung together 48 consecutive victories, including a four-game sweep of the Quezon Huskers in the 2025 MPBL National Finals and a title-clinching win over the same squad in the 2026 Preseason Invitationals.

San Juan, meanwhile, is looking to finally snap Abra’s long-standing dominance. The Knights have rebuilt around 6-foot-8 former De La Salle standout and UAAP Finals MVP Mike Phillips, along with ex-University of the Philippines standouts Harold Alarcon, Gerry Abadiano, Terrence Fortea, and Reyland Torres. They are further boosted by Perpetual Help products Patrick Sleat and JP Boral, MPBL returnee James Kwekuteye, and key mainstays Orlan Wamar, Mike Calisaan, Dexter Maiquez, AC Soberano, and Nikko Panganiban.

Abra, however, has the size and depth to counter Phillips and company, led by 6-foot-6 DJ Fenner, 6-foot-6 Tucker Molina, 6-foot-7 Raven Gonzales, 6-foot-8 Drex Delos Reyes, and physical defenders John Uduba and Ryan Batino.

The Weavers also boast firepower in reigning MVP Dave Ildefonso and his brother Shaun, alongside Encho Serrano, Mike Ayonayon, and Kascius Small-Martin.

In their last meeting during the 2026 Preseason, Abra narrowly escaped San Juan, 76-72.

According to Casino Plus sportsbook odds, San Juan enters as a 5.0-point underdog, with the over/under set at 162.0.

Abra remains unbeaten at 2-0, while San Juan holds a 2-1 record in the ongoing round-robin elimination phase of the two-division, 28-team tournament.
