6-4 Fil-Am guard Andrews commits to UP

University of the Philippines had another successful recruitment trip in the United States, securing a new prospect for its men’s basketball team.

The Fighting Maroons got the commitment of 6-foot-4 guard Ashon Andrews during the FilAm Nation Select Global Summit.

UP representatives that went to the open run held at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, California were team boosters Pato Gregorio and Jonvic Remulla, along with head coach Goldwin Monteverde and head of operations Bo Perasol.

Andrews, 19, is a product of Roosevelt High School in Washington DC.

In 26 games played during his senior year, he put up numbers of 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Being a part of the 2022 class, Andrews will be eligible for UAAP Season 85.

UP also made offers to 6-foot-3 Miles Franklin, 6-foot-1 Gjerard Wilson, 6-foot-3 TJ Latu, and 5-foot-11 Jimmy Reyes.
