University of the Philippines has gained the commitment of another promising prospect in preparation for UAAP Season 87.
Denzil Walker, a 6-foot-4 winger, has transferred from the American junior college Central Lakes College to UP.
Walker, who is 20 years old, will undergo a residency year and is eligible for UAAP Season 87.
In his freshman year with the Raiders, Walker, who traces his roots in Pangasinan, averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 22 games played.
Coach Joshua Presbitero, a Minnesota-based Filipino coach who assisted Walker in getting scouted in Manila, remarked, “He’s proficient at coming off screens for catch-and-shoot three-pointers. He’s explosive when attacking the rim, which puts pressure on opposing defenses. Defensively, he possesses the length and quickness to disrupt opposing players.”
Walker’s transition to UP life will be seamless, as his good friend Gani Stevens also transferred to Diliman a couple of months ago.
In addition to Walker and Stevens, the Fighting Maroons also have Jared Bahay, Dikachi Udodo, and Chris Hubilla waiting in the wings.
