All 58 players test negative as Chooks 3×3 begins pre-season tourney

Every player from each of the 12 teams in the upcoming 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup, powered by TM, has tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The league’s independent medical consultant Dr. Butch Ong released the statement on Sunday morning.

“Of the 58 players tested for COVID 19 on the Chooks to Go 3×3 in Inspire Sports Academy Calamba, since the results were released on October 17, none have returned as confirmed positive,” the statement of the physician from UP Science and Society Program read.

“The 2020 Chooks to Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup will therefore commence on October 21 at 1:00 pm.”

Zamboanga Peninsula Valientes MLV, Pagadian City-Rocky Sports, Petra Cement-Roxas City ZN Rockies, Sarangani Marlins, and Bicol Paxful 3×3 Pro arrived the following day.

Hostilities in the first conference of the country’s first-ever professional 3×3 basketball league — which is also endorsed by FIBA 3X3 — begins on Wednesday, October 21 at 1:00 PM.

The next three legs will be on October 23, 25, and 27. Meanwhile, the Grand Finals, with P1-million as the top prize, will take place on October 30.

The teams competed in a series of scrimmages in preparation for a short pre-season tournament on Monday.
