UP’s future just got a whole lot brighter
NCAA Season 93 Juniors Most Valuable Player and Gilas 23 for 2023 pool member Will Gozum finally committed to the University of the Philippines as confirmed by head coach Bo Perasol.
Fresh from a stellar final NCAA Juniors division year with the Mapua Red Robins where he averaged 13.2 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks, he is expected to make an immediate effect in the UAAP Season 81 seniors division.
Choosing UP felt like coming home for the 6-foot-6 big man who used to play for the UP high school team alongside the Gomez de Liano brothers.
He was unfortunately cut from the team and eventually found his way to Mapua High School where he established his dominance as one of the top high school graduate prospects.
For his homecoming in UP, the 18-year old who can play both the four and five position will further boost the formidable frontline of the Fighting Maroons featuring Bright Akhuetie and Noah Webb.
The Fighting Maroons finished their Season 80 campaign in the fifth spot with a 6-8 win-loss record. But now with strong recruits in Akhuetie, Jaydee Tungcab, David Murell, and now Gozum, they are gearing themselves up for a faster route to the final four and even more.
