Creamline drubs Petro Gazz for first win

Last year’s bronze medalists Creamline Cool Smashers stamped their status as frontrunners in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference after cruising past the Petro Gazz Angels in their first outing, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Cool Smashers led right from the first whistle and never let the Angels sniff the lead. In each set, Creamline raced to insurmountable advantages, as everyone in a pink jersey contributed significantly.

“It’s been a long time since we had a real game pero we’ve been preparing and training for today for such a long time din so that really helped,” said Alyssa Valdez. “We wanted to make sure na we did everything na pinaractice namin and just execute.”

Returning Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin led the Cool Smashers with 17 points, while team captain and four-time PVL Most Valuable Player Valdez added 14 markers and eight digs.

Kadi Kullerkann was the only Angel in double-digits with 11 points.

The Cool Smashers take on the BanKo Perlas (0-0) on Saturday in Tuguegarao. Petro Gazz (0-1) take on another opening day loser in Tacloban Fighting Warays (0-1) on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
