Cignal makes rousing debut at Vice Co.’s expense

The Cignal HD Spikers unveiled their revamped lineup with success, slamming the Vice Co. Blockbusters, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The HD Spikers were towed by two former Ateneo Blue Eagles. Five-time UAAP MVP Marck Espejo poured in 28 points while two-time UAAP champion Ysay Marasigan added 21 markers.

Cignal head coach Oliver Almadro lauded his team’s play, but admitted they still have ways to go.

“I thought everyone did their job, everyone contributed,” said Almadro. “Pero this is a long league and we still made mistakes na maaayos pa namin as this season goes on.”

The HD Spikers (1-0) face PLDT (0-2) on Sunday in Batangas.

Jude Garcia topped the Blockbusters with 12 markers while former NU Bulldog Berlin Paglinawan added 11.

Vice Co. takes (1-1) on IEM (2-0) next Wednesday in Baliwag.
