Adamson soars past La Salle to go to 2-0

By: Ohmer Bautista

Fresh off a resounding win over the Arellano Chiefs, the Adamson University Soaring Falcons turned to their defensive prowess to secure their second win at the expense of the De La Salle University Green Spikers, 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, in the Premier Volleyball League Men’s Collegiate Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

“Kilala kami sa depensa namin at sa first ball, so sabi ko sa mga player, lalamang kami sa mga kalaban na kailangan umpisahan namin sa magandang first ball para makapag attack kami ng mataas na success rate,” Adamson assistant head coach Niel Miranda shared.

Nagpapanalo talaga samin first ball at receive namin,” he furthered.

The Soaring Falcons flourished in the floor reception department, tallying 50 excellent digs and 31 excellent receptions.

A set away from victory coming into the fourth set, the Falcons zoomed to a 20-16 cushion — capped by back-to-back hits from Paolo Pablico — and never looked back.

Falcons’ skipper Pablico finished with 17 points and 11 excellent receptions. George Labang and Geoffrey Alicando chipped identical 14 marker for Adamson.

The Green Spikers, on the other hand, also had three guys in double figures with Kieffer Reyes leading the way with 15, while Cris Dumago and John Aquino added 14 and 10 markers respectively for DLSU, which now drops to a 0-2 slate.

The Soaring Falcons will take on San Beda Red Spikers on Saturday, July 28, at the same venue. The Green Spikers, on the other hand, will look to turn their fortunes around against UST Tiger Spikers on Sunday, July 29, also at the same venue.
