F2 Logistics ekes out tight win over Cignal HD for 8th victory

Reigning champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers recovered from a slow start and doused the Cignal HD Spikers, 23-25, 27-25, 25-16, 25-23, for their eighth win in the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

After conceding the first set in heartbreaking fashion, the Cargo Movers rallied from a 22-24 gap to win the second set. Dominating the third set, the Cargo Movers leaned on the late game brilliance of their imports MJ Perez and Kennedy Bryan to seal the win.

“Talagang kumapit lang kami. Hindi namin hinayaan na madala kami noong talo namin noong first set,” said F2 Logistics setter Kim Fajardo, who tossed 38 excellent sets.

“Siyempre, hindi kami magpapadala kahit na maganda record namin. Marami pa kaming kailangan ayusin na kita naman sa game kanina,” she added.

Last conference’s MVP, Perez tallied 14 points, while Bryan added 16.

Imports Sonja Milanovic and Jeane Horton carried the Cignal offense anew, managing 27 and 23 points, respectively.

The Cargo Movers (8-1) take on the resurgent Foton Tornadoes (4-4) to round out their elims campaign on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The HD Spikers (3-6) end the elimination round against the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers (2-6) next Thursday on the same venue.
