Petron rolls to second win after drubbing Generika-Ayala

The Petron Blaze Spikers again displayed their efficiency, taking down the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers, 25-18, 25-22, 25-13, in the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Petron dominated almost all facets of the game, tallying a 13-6 advantage in blocks and a 4-0 gap in service aces. The Blaze Spikers also limited their errors to just 11 while the Lifesavers gave up 27.

Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos emphasized the importance of getting back at Generika after absorbing an upset loss against the same team in the Invitational Cup.

“Especially for me, mabigat ‘yung nangyari sa amin. Sabi nga namin, ibang usapan na this time. Nag-prepare talaga kami. Good thing maganda ‘yung result. Inexpect talaga namin na magiging magandang laban ito,” said Delos Santos.

All Blaze Spikers in uniform saw the court, with Aiza Maizo-Pontillas leading the way with 11 points. Middle blocker Remy Palma added nine markers.

Open hitter Fiolla Ceballos topped Generika-Ayala with 12 points, while Patty Orendain managed 11.

Petron (2-0) will face the Smart Giga Hitters (1-0) on Thursday at the same venue. Meanwhile, Generika-Ayala (0-2) will try for their first win against the Cignal HDSpikers  (1-2) on Saturday at the Alonte Sports Arena.
