CEU weathers Marinerong Pilipino-TIP surge for 3rd win

The Centro Escolar University Scorpions showed their poise in the end game to clip the Marinerong Pilipino-TIP Skippers, 97-79, Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Orlan Wamar exploded for 14 points in the fourth quarter to finish with 31, to go with five rebounds and three assists as the Scorpions held off the Engineers.

Pierce Chan also added 19 points and two boards, while Gilles Oloume tallied a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds to nab back-to-back wins.

With CEU leading by as much as 19, Trevis Jackson tried to rescue Marinerong Pilipino-TIP with a timely explosion to open the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit down to just six, 66-60, in the final 8:47, before Judel Fuentes and Jordan Intic scored five straight to quickly bring the lead back to 11, 71-60.

Things would then got heated on a looseball joust between Wamar and Trevis Jackson that netted both sides technical fouls, but the heightened emotions favored the Scorpions, with Wamar going berserk to put away the Engineers.
