After two disappointing losses to start the season, the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors have seemingly recovered, scoring their second straight sweep at the Perlas Spikers’ expense, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
The defending champs were reeling at first but have found their groove this season, according to head coach Rommel Abella.
“I guess gumaganda na yung galaw ng players. Ngayon pa lang sila nakapag-adjust talaga na ‘di nakakalaro ‘yung dalawang imports,” Abella said about his imports, Michelle Strizak and Edina Selimovic, who are still unable to play due to the league’s inability to secure their ITCs.
“Start ng second na talo namin, satisfied na kami sa galaw ng players. There was a marked improvement and lumabas yung result sa third game and nag tuloy-tuloy naman.”
Perlas battled closely with Pocari Sweat until the latter mustered breakaway rallies midway through each set. Newly-acquired middle blocker Jeanette Panaga was vital in each of those runs, finishing with 12 points off nine attacks, two blocks, and an ace.
Open hitters Myla Pablo and Elaine Kasilag provided 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Lady Warriors blasted Perlas with 11 aces.
The Lady Warriors have evened their record at 2-2.
Former Ateneo Lady Eagles Dzi Gervacio was the only bright spot on Perlas’ offense with eight markers.
Perlas settle with a 2-2 record, tied with Pocari.
