The Bandwagon Wire Says:
The Red Bull has a rich winning tradition that stems from the early 2000’s. Wait what?! This Barako Bull Energy team did not come from the lineage of the great Red Bull Thunder team from the 2000’s?
So technically, the greatest moment in this franchise, since taking up the Barako Bull name, is this
All kidding aside, we could divide this team into two groups:
>30 yrs old | Dennis Miranda | Jondan Salvador | Chico Lanete | Willy Wilson | Mick Pennisi | JC Intal | |
<30 yrs old | RR Garcia | Carlo Lastimosa | Nico Salva | Jeric Fortuna | Dave Marcelo | Jake Pascual | Papot Paredes |
The last team from the Lina group loaded up on young talent this season. The team even let former MVP Willie Miller go for the youth movement the team is going through.
The Wave of the Future
The team has a bright future. The winning pedigree of their prized rookies and sophomores is a huge factor in building a winning franchise.
RR Garcia, Carlo Lastimosa, and Jeric Fortuna are sure to get minutes, even in crunch time, for the Energy. However, we at the Wire feel bad for the young frontcourt guys, as they will compete for minutes with crafty veterans like Pennisi, Wilson and Salvador.
Another thing we are worried of is how can JC Intal and Nico Salva split their minutes. It would be hard for Coach Leo Isaac to bench Intal in favor of Salva, since the former is still in his physical prime. On the other hand, favoring him over Salva would hinder the former finals MVP and five-time UAAP chanpion’s development as a professional basketball player
So, there will also be a battle within the team for minutes as the players above 30 against the young bloods. Who will win?
Or better yet who will be traded next?
Our prediction: 10th place, eliminated in the wildcard phase
