16 Filipino warriors vie for ONE contract in Warriors Series PH

A new reality TV show is set to captivate both hardcore and casual Filipino fight fans.

ONE Warrior Series Philippines hits airwaves this Sunday, September 18 at 9:35 PM on GTV, while also airing on the ONE Super App and watch.onefc.com.

Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao spearheads the project as lead mentor on the show, while ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio and former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio coach their respective teams consisting of eight warriors each.

“[This is] extremely helpful. OWS opens the door of opportunity for our promising athletes and champions. It opens the door to an illustrious career and life-changing opportunities,” Sangiao said.

Sixteen warriors from all over the Philippines will be put through the ringer. They’ll be tested through, among other things, the Warrior Challenge, which will measure the athletes’ speed, strength, and endurance.

The coaches will then determine who will compete in the Circle Showdown, which will see select athletes spar against each other to keep from being eliminated.

Competing in the show are Ely Fernandez, Ariel Oliveros, Ralf Francisco, Shiraz Hussain, Christian Paul Laurio, Anacleto Lauron, JM Guntsyon, Raymundo Ortega, Joevincent So, Marvin Malunes, John Mcleary Ornido, Adonis Sevilleno, Genil Francisco, Ariel Lee Lamoaxan, Ernesto Montilla, and Norman Agcopra.

The winner of the show will get a US$100,000 contract to compete in ONE Championship as part of the famed Team Lakay stable.

But aside from giving the fans the next big Filipino mixed martial artist, this show will highlight the struggles of being a martial artist – the highs, the lows, and the sacrifices that one must go through to be successful in this field.

“OWS also shows the harsh reality of being an MMA athlete, that it’s not easy, it’s not just a test of physical strength and endurance, but a supreme test of character, spirit, and of how far you can go to fight for your dream,” Sangiao said.
